HELP!
I’m using a prusa Mendel i2 with a printrbot hotend. I have a direct drive extruder. No matter what material or temperature setting I use, my print nozzle clogs within the first minute of printing or grinds through the filament. I need some ideas on what could be going wrong. Thanks in advance!

Possible issues: Check the cooling fan on the heatsink if it has one. If the fan is running slow the heat will move up the cold end and cause the filament to soften and stick. Adding an oiler can greatly improve reliability. If you cannot get any plastic through the nozzle it is clogged due to dirt or burnt plastic in the hot end. The PTFE tube in the hot end could also have become distorted / damaged due to over heating. Both of these will require disassembly, cleaning, inspection and repair before reassembly if needed. Last the filament may contain particles that cause clogs. Get a different filament supplier.
