Hi everyone,

I have an extruder motor that is incessantly knocking and not feeding filament into the hot-end.

Printer: Anycubic Kossel Mini 3D Delta Printer

Firmware: Marlin 1.1.0-Rich Cattel8

What I’ve done to troubleshoot thus far:
- Temporarily removed the holding spring mechanism and teflon tube to insure it was not a pressure related issue.

- Adjusted the current using the potentiometer on the board connected to the extruder motor

- Checked the cable connections with a multimeter and the wires are all properly connected from end to end.

How it began:
Even when initially the printer was first assembled a little over a month ago, knocking from the extruder motor would happen very occasionally but always seemed to fix itself so I didn’t worry about it. Over the past month, I’ve printed about 200 grams of PLA material. However, last week after starting a 5 hour print job, after coming to check on it 2 hours later, the extruder motor was non-stop knocking. I canceled that print and cleaned and checked for clogs. I then ran the 20x20x10mm cube test print that I never had issues with in the past, but again I was met with only knocking. Then I began troubleshooting doing what I mentioned earlier and have had no success so far…

My possible thoughts:
Did I receive a faulty motor from the start? Or did my motor controller fry itself?

Any help and insight is greatly appreciated!

sounds like it could be a multitude of things. First is the extruder working at all? second are all wires in tact and connected properlly? (they tend to come loose over time and sounds like you had a loose wire from the get go) third: have you tested your stepper drive? ( switch mtors out on that drive to see i usually test by plugging the extruder motor into the x axis stepper and see if it works)
