I would like to experiment with different extruder feed rates. Does anyone know the default steps per millimeter that ships in the firmware?
Nobody, including customer support seemed to know the proper number of steps per millimeter for the extruder flow rate, so I did some experimenting with manual movement in Repetier Host. The default flow rate in Repetier Host was 100 steps per millimeter. I attached a clothespin to the filament 400 millimeters from the input side of the extruder then used the arrow keys to extrude 400 millimeters. The clothespin ended up about 5 millimeters away from the extruder, so I bumped the value up to 110 and tried it again. This time the extruder advanced the filament pretty close to 400 millimeters. I started a test print, and the results look pretty good. I’m going to try bumping the feed rate up a bit more, maybe to 115 steps per millimeters. That might be too much, but we’ll see.
