Looking at this printer and just wanted to see if anyone had used one and what their thoughts where on it. I was looking at more expensive printers, but scaled back as i’m more aiming to do proto type / throw away prints myself and use this site for finished products.

Any feed back or suggestions would be great.
Thanks
I would steer away from any printer that has no name behind it. You are almost certainly going to get a box of junk.
When you say no name, do you mean not branded? From what I can see this one is Micromake.
Would this one be more likely not to have issues? https://www.3dprintersbay.com/delta-3d-printers/flsun-autolevelling-kossel-diy-kit
Thanks
Any of these bottom priced machines from China are going to have quality issues. I think Delta printers in particular have to be better designed and made with better quality parts in order to work, and to get those prices low they aren’t. I know some people who have bought these low end brand like Geeetech and such and all they got was a box full of frustration. I think you can make these machines work eventually but don’t expect it to be easy, and don’t be surprised if parts are missing or defective.
Yer, the eBay sellers seem to be hit and miss. Bit most the reviews I’ve found seem to think ones from this are decent. Not looking for a awesome printer (the budget probably gave that away) and happy to tinker to get it up and running. It’ll mainly be used for prototypes and throw away/single use parts. Is there anything in particular I should be watching out for? Thanks
If other people have bought it and given positive reviews its a good sign. But don’t expect any reliability or longevity from it. If you want a good budget delta, I would suggest instead to get something like the FolgerTech Kossel.
Yer, got the expectations nice low
Had a look at the FolgerTech Kossel and the end cost (inc postage to AU) is almost double, but if this one dies and i’m up for more i’ll keep that one in mind?
Thanks,
Personal experience with the FLSun printer, it’s not bad, but nor is it great.
I just replied to another person asking about it specifically, but other than apparently needing an additional MOSFET or SSR to control the bed heater current, and mine having one bad ball joint on the effector diagonal rods, it’s not a bad kit.
The manual was for a different revision of the kit, but was fairly obvious what was different and how to assemble it, when you’re working with the parts on hand.
The only real complaints were that the extrusions were fairly covered in aluminum shrapnel from being cut to length, and the bits had gotten into other stuff as well. The sample length of PLA had to be uncoiled and wiped down to get all of it off, and I still have a few pieces stuck in the PAINTED(!?!) finish of the extrusions.
Note: Paint does not equal annodization on aluminum extrusions. It’s not all that bad, and for the price point, probably expected, but not great.
