So I thought Io would post here to share my issue and fix for anybody who has also experienced this issue. When starting a print the FFCP would auto home as per usual but when hitting the X or Y end stop the LCD would loose all text and dim while the motors continued and started hitting the side as if it had not triggered the End stop.
Now My FFCP has printed around 3500 miles of 1.75mm filament so it has be a really good to me. This is the first issue it has had.
So back tot he issue. The first thing I did was swap the end stops and this made no difference. All there going faulty would be 1 in a million so I ruled that out.
Next I replaced all end stop cabled and the same issue kept happening.
I then lurched the interwebz for the schematic of my board the REV E. No joy. So I pulled out the multi meter and began probing any point to do with the 5v rail that supply’s the end stops power. Note, the end stops have a ground and signal wire with a 10k resistor connected to signal to pull high alle 95% of arduino switches.
Now the reason I have bored you with all of the above is faulty end stops can be caused buy 4 things
Dodgy end stop
Dodgy end stop cable
Dodge 3.3v regulator
And finally my issue a DODGY SS34 schottky barrier diode connected to the mp1584en buck converter. It was leaking voltage and allowing a reverse flow of pixies that would short all when the end stop was triggered.
There you have it a 10 pence piece that if IO was to hung over to find would have cost me £145 squid.
But be careful. Do not do what I did where I replaced the diode with another that was kinda the same spec so I had to replace the mp1584en as i popped it.
I have put an image with a big red circle of the issue and if you have any questions feel free to ask
