Hi everybody! After doing long and painful researches (mostly because of delivery costs), I’ve narrowed my choices to two 3D printers. Major difference between the two, one is enclosed, and the other is not. I’d really like you to help me chose between a Prusa i3 model and a Cloner 3D, both coming from Folger Technologies. I have received many good advices and tips, and after reviewing everything myself, I concluded that Folger Tech is offering decent printers with good quality/price. I’m waiting for your final advices before I purchase my first 3D printer. Thanks again!

Here are the links to the two printers in question:

Wow, both are crazy cheap, and both will be capable of good quality prints if put together and calibrated well. They’re both well validated designs at this point with lots of community knowledge. An enclosure (the cloner doesn’t look fully enclosed but would be easier to do so) is only going to be important if you’re printing high warping plastics (ABS/Polycarb), want to reduce noise, or need to stop small fingers/paws from getting burned. Nice to have the option anyway.

To my mind the biggest difference between the two is a moving vs stationary platform. I have both types and these days lean towards the stationary platform. Not moving the print around seems to work better for me, particularly tall delicate support structures. YMMV of course.

Well, thanks for the link, but those printers are mostly way over my budget. The cheaper ones look, well, cheaper… Acrylic frame, replica circuits, not sure if i’d put my trust in those. I prefer to put my faith in Folger Tech.
