Hi, My I3 plus nozzle clogged while using petg. I have printed 10 or 15 parts using the petg and thought I had it dialed in fairly well. After trying to clear the nozzle and ultimately breaking off the little nozzle clearing tool they provide inside the nozzle, I bought a new MK10 nozzle and put it on. I then switched to PLA thinking it would be better for getting started again. I could not get it to come out so I took apart the printing head setup and was able to finally get the new pla to pass through. I leveled the bed and tried a few prints and most of the time, the filament will not come out. I can hold down the extruder arm and push hard on the filament and get it to come out when the head is properly heated but it really does not want to print. Any ideas on what to do next would be appreciated.

The Duplicator I3 has a PTFE liner/heat break in it’s hot end… My guess is that has warped, causing it to pinch the filament as it begins to heat and soften at the entrance to the heat chamber in your hotend. This will greatly increase the force needed to push filament through and cause constant jamming. If that is the problem, you will need to replace the PTFE liner in your hotend.

This is a common problem with hotends with PTFE liners, and you may want to look into upgrading to an all metal hotend like the E3D V6 hotend.

Thank you for the reply. I was thinking about updating to an all metal so I will do that . I am also updating the filament system (extruder??) and I already ordered a biqu etruder feeder kit (though I may look at something like what is on the TAZZ). I have lots of questions on upgrades and no where to ask them so I will probably start throwing them out here. Thanks again!
