Hello All,

It’s been a while since I posted. I’ve started focusing on quality improvement and dumped the stock fan for the 20mm fan from this thingiverse and upgraded the mounting. Everything going great and I’ve seen huge improvements on my PLA print quality.

Now I want to double down and get a second fan for the duel fan option. My question is this: How to do I wire this thing safely (literally what wires go where) so I dont create a hazard for my parts, my printer, or myself.

Thanks
Geoff

I have no experience with the Robo 3D but unless you want to control the fans independently then splicing them together shouldn’t be a problem as long as the board puts out enough amps. You want to keep the same voltage so wire in parallel(divide amps) not series (divide voltage).

Here is a proper diagram for you to safely follow. The PSU supplies 12v DC so it will be an easy upgrade. Let us know how it turns out.

Your diagram might actually confuse the OP. The “cooling fans” in the diagram are for cooing the board(always on) which is not what he is asking about. These are for hot end cooling so just plugging them into the PSU isn’t the answer. You just have to splice the new fan to the old fan(IN PARALLEL), which is already connected to the “print cooler” output in the diagram.

Oh yeah, thanks a lot for the correction!

Hey guys thanks for all the info. I got what I am supposed to do. However my y axis rails just seized up so gotta maintain before I improve. I’ll post something here once I am done with the fix and the improvement.
