I have been using my ctc printer for a about 8 months now and am wanting to try using the duel extrusion does any one have some tips as like software to use and upgrades I should do?
Dual extrusion is an inexact science. Primarily, your goal is to keep the material from one extruder from dragging or dripping where it is not desired.
Dual color objects, or different material supports:
This is done one of two ways. The older way is to put pillars of each color to the side of the print, so that the extruder can print it, “wiping” before it goes over the print. This does not work great, but is OK.
Simplify 3d software takes a different approach, basically building a cone around the model so the extruder is always “wiping.”
Regardless of this, you will likely still get some strands of one into the strands of the other.
Now, if you just want different colors, such as text on a keychain, abandon the dual extrusion, and just pause the printer, raise the extruder, purge the new filament in, and lower the extruder, and continue printing in the new color. This works much better than the dual extruders version of trying to do it.

I’m using Simplify3d and have had some success with dual, but to be fair, I think it is more about calibration than software.
