This is my first week of printer use so please look on me kindly.

I would like to use my dual extruder machine to print using PLA on 1 head whilst using the second head to print soluable material for the plinth and support structure’s. Is this possible and if so how do I set up the print in makerware? I’m using Makerware as the software supplied with the machine wouldn’t load onto a Mac Book.

Having played with the levelling of the table I’m now getting good quality prints using 1 extruder. I find that is I try to lower the second extruder to the same level ready to use both heads the second head clashes with the material laid down by the first head and rips it off the bed. Am I missing something in the bed levelling process.

It is very possible, software aside, to use PVA supports with PLA build material. Your dual extruder should be calibrated so bot nozzles are within a few microns of each other. Your bed will also have to be very level to the extruders. It takes some perseverance. If your inactive head crashes into the print you will have to go back to leveling and calibration. Also keep in mind thermal expansion on the bed and nozzles. Of you calibrate everything perfectly cold you may have a high error tolerance once everything is heated.
