Hi everyone,

I thought I would share my latest mountain bike print since everyone really loved the old one. This one has been updated to include working front suspension (as well as rear) and rotating cranks and pedals (as well as rotating wheels). I tried to make a ‘chain’ so that the pedals were connected to the rear wheel but this was pretty difficult with the small sizes involved.

If anyone has some ideas on how to improve the front suspension (but still keeping it looking like a real bike) I am all ears because currently the forks bend a lot before the suspension starts working (the abs and thin requirements mean it is flexing the whole front forks). You can see the front fork assembly below (and rear suspension) and how it works. The top parts clips onto the bottom part and the the section in the middle slides up into the free space in the middle of the fork.

The frame was designed so that the entire section is printed in one (all the tolerances are setup so that you just remove the material and ‘crack’ the linkage and it is all working, you just need to add the spring and the rest of the parts). All of the parts are designed to slide/snap on and then you can secure them with a bit of glue if you want them super strong (or never want to take it apart).

Anyway I hope you guys like it and please let me know if you print one how it turns out because it hasn’t been tested on too many different types of printers yet (I’m on facebook, twitter, instagram etc). Files are free to download from my site https://www.trinpy.com/models/downhill-mountain-bike-dual-suspension/

Very, very cool.

I tried to download the zip but was unsuccessful. Probably my error (or is it?) No prob; downloaded separately.

Hmm that’s weird, seems to be ok from my testing. Thanks for letting me know, shoot me an email if you have any other problems (admin @trinpy.com).

Cheers

Andrew
