Hello all, I am Extremely new to 3D printing and forgive me if this has been asked before but i tried to print a simple word and the infill did not fuse to the perimeter wall In some places. Also looks like the “o” isn’t as circular as the actual design…

i have a stock xyzprinting davinci 2.0 using ABS

any help in the right direction is appreciated

Did You Calibrate the printer before you started?

What slicer do you use?

Hi,

Have a look at this since your new

https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-troubleshooting/

Its a list and photo guide of common problems may help since your new.

Its looking like a heat issue.

Looks like the axes are out of square. Maybe one timing belt of the Y axis jumped over. After you fixed it you should calibrate your printer.

Depending upon the scale of your time, this could be caused by several things (including your slicer program settings too). If you are running standard software (provided XYZware).

  • Temperature can cause an item to go out of round, if this is a smaller item (the Os are less than .5") - I would look at be adhesion. As ABS cools it can distort and pull an O into an oval.
  • Bed leveling would be the next area to investigate - try printing this rotated 90 degrees on the bed and see if the issue remains if so you might want to ensure that the bed is level.

If you are running another slicer check the nozzle diameter setting and first layer hieght.

I used the XYZWARE program and yes I calibrated it. I’ve read these printers have some issues with ABS, no?

I can’t adjust the temperature on the stock software/firmware for this from what I’m seeing. I will check on the bed leveling though. Thank you for your help!!

Thank you, I’ve been using that and from what it’s saying, I can’t adjust the ouline overlap with this stock firmware/software that I know of

Actually they do well with ABS and generally have issues with PLA. I would ensure that the the first layer is the right height (not too flat and not round).

There seems to be a lot of play in the belt on the left hand side of the printer. Could this be the issue?

Another pic of the belt. Is this normal??

Definantley not! Check to see if the bearing mount that holds the rods end is entacted and tight. If it is broken, you can find replacement models to print here (or the original part in the comments of the link below):

Bearing / Shaft Mount (No Pins) - Da Vinci 1.0 / 2.0 - 3D Printer by drbogger Bearing / Shaft Mount (No Pins) - Da Vinci 1.0 / 2.0 - 3D Printer by drbogger - Thingiverse

Just checked and it seems fine. Not loose or anything. I just bought this off someone and he said he only ran the demo print. It looked that way when I got it too. I just want to get this thing printing right. =\

Make sure they are not cracked - it can be difficult to spot. If it ok, you will still need to tight the belt. See below for a video.

Do you think this will fix the infill issue? Or is that another beast to deal with?
