we bought our daughter a da vinci mini w for Xmas and we tried several times today to print the sample rose with no success
the first time the print did not stick to the paper, the next two times the paper moved and the last the paper was secured, but at about 75% done the rose was.knocked over by the printer.
Can anyone offer us some advise?
You should not have to print on paper because the bed is heated so it should already stay on and if not use the supplied glue stick for extra adhesion
It sounds like the object being printed needs more adhesion to the print bed.
The best thing that worked for me was to spray a little hairspray on the print bed just prior to printing.
Good luck.
PS The Da Vinci Mini w doesn’t have a heated print bed so the supplied square of taped paper + hairspray works very well.
The Da Vinci Mini does not have a heated print bed. I’ve been having trouble with things curling or lifting from the print bed. It seems to happen with long flat objects more than short stubby objects.

Hi,
I recently got the mini and had the exact same problem. I don’t know why they include it as one of the sample prints. The rounded bottom of the rose makes it hard for it to adhere. Some suggestions:
After I used up all the square sheets they included, I switched over to blue 3M painter’s tape. I put that on the print bed and then coated that with a layer of Elmer’s glue stick just before printing. That pretty solved most of my problems with objects not sticking to the bed.
If that does not work with the rose, you could turn on “raft” in the settings. The will create a base PLA layer and the rose should stick to that. Then you clip away the raft. Rafts can be a pain, but sometimes you need them. When you hit the print button, you should see an option to turn on the raft.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Steve
