Well… Just tried to adjust the height of an extruder before a print, while the extruder was on and hot (That was stupid on its own). But then I accidently slipped and my screwdriver went into the fan and snapped off 4 blades. Now it vibrates and makes lots of noise as well as not blowing much air. Then Stupid me went to get a new fan after taking the old one out and forgot where the old fan plugged into the board. If anyone has a wiring diagram or knows where to plug it in (the broken fan is on the right extruder) that would be very helpful

Thanks

The row of connectors at the opposite side to the stepper drivers has two labelled “EX1” and “EX2” - these are for the hotend fans.

Thanks, this helped a lot. I’ve got a spare fan and I was thinking about using it to blow air on the print while printing. I see an unused port on the board labeled ‘EXTRA’. Could this port be used to control another fan and would there be any software/firmware configuration required?

Yes is could, and it should. It will transform the usefulness of your printer.

You will probably need to solder a mosfet on though, often its missing from the board. And you will need a cooling fan duct.

I think the the most popular design is this one on thingiverse, which also includes detailed instructions on the mosfet mod.

As Slippyr4 has said if you want to add a cooling fan you need to solder a new mosfet on the board. I recently did this and made a video of the progress. CTC 3D Printer Active Cooling Mod - YouTube

Be warned as there is a risk of breaking the board when doing this mod.
