Hello,

i have a ctc and my motherboard burnt out. I bought a new one and just installed it. The extruders read fine, but the bed does not. It says n/a. Also my biggest concern is that the overheat led light on the board is on even if I unplug the thermocouple. Does anyone know if the light will turn on if the thermocouples are disconnected? Do you guys think my bed thermocouple burned out when the board burned out? Thanks for the help in advance.

Not a clue on the rest of it but I know the overheat light always stays switched on these boards mine does the day I got it I tightened all the screws powered it up and it was on

The led is wired into the 24v side of the bed and once the bed gets to the temp set in the machine it will go out. It will turn on and off indicating it is holding temp ie as it cools down it will come on and when it gets back up to temp it will go out. Where did you get the replacement board

Hello,

What caused the board to fail? and what board did you buy?

Chris, I am not entirely sure what made the board fail. I was not running sailfish, I was running stock firmware which I had heard it could cause the motherboard to burn out. Issues started when my thermocouples broke, I fixed them until I received new ones and it was all working fine, then the temp on the left extruder was 173c and suddenly it went to 29c. Te temperature would not change then a bit later the voltage amplifier for the left extruder started smoking and burnt numerous components on the board. After that the voltage indicator lights didn’t turn on and no power was entering the board.

I got a new board from 3dprima in Sweden. It’s for a wanhao but it’s all based of the same design.

Right now, I don’t get a temp read from the bed. Could something in the bed have been damaged when the old motherboard burned out? The bed had been the only thing that had not given me any temp read issues previously.

I never saw my overheat light turn on, on my old board. I would see the light under the heat bed turn on and off. Is that the one you’re talking about that stays on until temp is reached?

I have been on there website and looked at the board you have got and according to there 3rd picture it uses thermocouples not thermistors. This may be why your not be getting any readings

I get a reading on both extruders. I don’t get a reading on the bed. By looking at the 3rd pic it says thermocouples for the extruder and Ntc thermal resistance for the bed. I am a bit confused when you say that it uses thermocouples and not thermistors.

Does anyone know how i could test the heated build plate to see if its functioning?

If i tell the printer to preheat the bed, the FET LED for the build plate does not turn on. Would having the overheat LED on cutoff the power to the build plate? It also does not make sense to me how the LED is powered when U5,U6 and U7 are not even installed on the board.

No one has any input? Anything helps.

Just put mm on (+ - 24v) and I get a reading of 3.7k if that helps
