I just got my new CTC the other day and set it up. It came with the 7.4 firmware (which the vendor told me after the fact can’t be upgraded in the one I purchased which stinks), and I’m running Makerware 2.4.
Bed temp:60
Extruder temp:200
Infill:15%
Raft: Off
Layer height .1
Speed: 60
When I try to print PLA, using the settings above, the first half prints great but the 2nd half prints horribly. I’ve tried different designs and different places on the bed but nothing seems to work.
Before I return the printer, am I missing something easy?
Get a spring loaded extruder and your quality will be great. And maybe check your hotend
I was trying to print an owl recently, and had a similar result. The first 1/3- 1/2 was ok, then it started pulling and balling up on the nozzle. Ended up, I had to increase the shell thickness to 3 layers, and infill to 20%. After that it printed fine. You might try that. I do not have a CTC printer, but the results look very similar.
Thanks for the feedback. I ended up having other issues with the printer (warped bed, firmware issues, etc) and returned it and got a Flashforge creator pro in its place.
