I’ve had the printer only a few days. My first impression was the uselessness of the “Chinglish” manual! Nevertheless I managed to get some good results. However, the operation of the printer is extremely haphazard and is, I believe gradually becoming more so although this impression might just be paranoia and the result of frustration! Most of the time as the build starts, the printhead moves from its “home” position in the very back right-hand corner along the ‘Y’ axis and then half-way back along the ‘Y’ axis where it begins to print. Since I am using the right-hand nozzle, this means that the extrusion is taking place in fresh air beyond the right-hand edge of the platform! Sometimes the print-head travels diagonally across the plate and then back to the centre of the plate where it begins to print normally and all is well. Unfortunately this latter condition does not often occur! Consistent misbehaviour I can sort out (probably) but this intermittent and unpredictable malfunction is impossible to deal with. Does anybody have any idea what I’m doing wrong?
Update to sailfish and those issues will go away.

OK Eduardo. Many thanks. I’ll give it a whirl.
Are you using RepG? You need to go into the settings (theres a youtube video tutorial on how to do this) and update to sailfish firmware, from there try using “MakerWare” (free download) instead of RepG … that’s what I did when I first started printing and it was a lot of help.

Many thanks for your message. Someone else has suggested “Sailfish” and I have tried to install it. At one time I thought it had worked because a sort of reliability had crept into the matter but just as I thought everything was ok the old problems returned. However, I’m fairly certain I haven’t installed “Sailfish” properly (it seemed too easy!) but I can’t get my technical consultant (my grandson) onto the job until tomorrow.
Thanks again and regards

Redirect Notice That’s the manual. Not difficult to do if you follow it exactly.
