Hi all, im new to the 3d printing world and have a ctc dual printer. For the past couple of weeks ive struggled getting it to print properly and really hope someone can help. Today i managed to get it to actually print after putting in a glass plate and setting the configuration but the images show what it turns out like. Im using simplify3d and am still messing around with the settings trying to find the best ones but cant seem to put my finger on it

Looks like under extrusion. What material , temps, speeds?

Looking at the bottom of the part it shows you are not fully level yet either but getting there! It takes time to get the hang of leveling. Look at the side on the bottom that is more stringy and remember where that was located on the bed. That area is lower than the other side. I’d say it is not off by much.

Im using PLA, temp of 205 and bed at 60, speed of 60mm/s. Yeh seems levelling the bed’s alot more of a pain than i thought it would be! I’ve set the extrusion multiplier to 0.9 and width to 4 same as nozzle diameter. I’ll give it a go of upping them and levelling the bed when i get home see what happens!

Settings look fine. I’d slow way down though. Maybe 35-40mm/s. Slower is good especially when getting things dialed in.

I think a re-level but don’t push it on making it closer to the nozzle. It is almost close enough.

Get another print and kill it after a layer or two and see how it looks. One thing is uniform across the print and the next is getting just enough of a squish of the filament.

I’ll give it a go. Thanks so much for the advice! Fingers crossed!

Using simplify3D and since you have an under-extrusion, you need to modify the extrusion multiplier up, try 1.1 or even 1.2. For example, I use only for the first layer (using the multiple procesess option) an extrusion multiplier of 1.15 and for the rest of the part extrusion multiplier of 1.

Also on the 1st layer, you can do 3 interesting things: first layer height (I use 90% for better adhesion), first layer width (I use 90% for not having those gaps that we can see in your second picture) and first layer speed of 50% (to have a nicelly done first layer).

Try both things that I describe and see if there is diference.
