Hello everyone,

A few days ago I purchased a CTC dual extruder 3d printer. After setting it up and tweaking for a bit I have some pretty good prints. I am printing from SD card.

I decided I would like to plug it into my PC and print from USB and look into octo print but here is the issue.

No matter what PC I plug it into, it always shows the ‘USB not recognized’ message.

I have installed the drivers that came with the printer on the SD card.

I installed Replicator software + drivers and still the same.

I also installed the Makerbot software and same issue.

On Windows in the device manager is always shows up as ‘unknown device’. I even tried to update the drivers through device manager, pointing to the relevant folders containing drivers and it just says ‘current usb driver installed’.

Tried this on:

Windows 7 x64

Windows 7 x86

Windows XP

Always the same trouble.

I really want to look into flashing it with the Sailfish firmware but at this rate that will never happen.

Any help with this would be amazing!

Thanks,

Marc

First thing is stop throwing drivers at it. This is just going to compound the issue. I would remove all drivers and software and start again. The best way is to roll the machine back to a point before any of the installs started. When I installed one of my machines QIDI printer (Win7 64 PC) the driver was in ReplicatorG. Went and downloaded the most recent version along with Python. Set that software up and no problem although it didn’t seem to like a USB 3 port but USB 2 port worked fine. My other printer, Flashforge Creator Pro was similar except the driver was separate and wouldn’t install. Found the website for the driver and got the latest on making sure to match 64bit or 32bit same as the PC. Installed and off it went. Also you can Google for issues with the driver for that printer, there should be plenty of info from other users. Check out the forums on 3dprintboards.com

After contacting the supplier they decided to send out a new board. After replacing its working fine. Plugged in, picked up as Replicator first time and installed perfect.

Once connected I decided to go down the Sailfish upgrade path and have successfully upgraded to 7.7 without issues.

Good stuff!
