hello, so i just got my E3d Cyclop, and with it i also got 2 bowden extruders, im wondering how do edit the code for the printer so it knows that there is only one hot end, but it can use 2 colors? im at a lose here. any help would be amazing, if there is a video to explain how, or anything i would like to know so i can use my 3d printer
I’m not 100% sure if you can do that, I always used two. It may even be in the settings for the slicing software … I will keep my eyes open for an answer. You want to be able to print two colors using two heads, but the trick the printer into thinking it’s one head?
You can tell the printer it has only one head using the panel on the front.
The only way you can print in more than one color after you do that, is to pause the printer, change the filament, and unpause. This would be color changes by layer only. There is also a pause at z height selection on the front.
If you want to print a model that has two colors, not by layer, you need two heads, of course.
but i have the e3d cyclops, its a two color hotend. i found out how to get it to work with the slicer program. just need to figure out my extruder stepper motors. they are not working.

Try setting the nozzle offset to 0 and let it still think it’s got two heads - that should make both extruder steppers working. Then I’d also wire the hotend thermistor to both sockets on the mainboard (both wires to one and only GND to the other), so it thinks both hotends are heated up (probably won’t let you extrude anything from a cold extruder).
