Hi everyone!
I am new to 3d printers. I just got my “refurbished” Flash Forge Creator Pro in the mail and have happily done about half a dozen 6 hr prints over USB.
Now I am trying to use the SD card and haven’t had a successful print yet (even when running the same job that I did over USB). It seems like the feedrates are noticeably faster when running off the sd card. I think this excessive speed is then causing skipping midway through the print that leads to a slanted finished product.
Any thoughts?
I am printing ABS and have my feedrates set to 60 and 80.
Thanks,
Matt

Photo of the artifact would help.
try lowering your travel speed when using SD.
Hi,
I only use 60 as feed rate, but I removed one of the stepper motors I was not using and replaced it with a 3d Printed dummy stepper motor spacer I found on thingiverse. This will lessen the weight of your carriage and hopefully will give you better prints. Good luck.
I don’t like to print via USB to much can go wrong, my suggestion to you is to first download SD Card Formatter
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter\_4/
This free program will ensure you have a clean non-fragmented SD Card, also make sure you only use cards rated with at least a “5” speed rating.
I’m sure this will solve your issue as you add and delete files on your SD card they are not really deleted just overwritten and the pathways the computer writes and the printer reads are not ideal by formatting you will erase the data back to “factory settings” allowing a clean and easy pathway for you printer to read files.
As far as replacing on of the Extruders with a dummy block I recommend “My Own Design” Flashforge Extruder Dummy Block by Your3DConcepts - Thingiverse I drew up a few months ago and posted it on Thingiverse, with this design you replace the “RIGHT” extruder with my dummy block with the added advantage of this is the use of the cooling fan from the right extruder cooling the left extruder and also the thumb loader on the left is much easier to load/unload filament. This design has over 2700 hrs of printing with excellant results.
A few more upgrades I recommend are
Cooling Duct - Active Cooling Fan Duct v2 for Replicator 1 / Duplicator 4 / FlashForge / CTC by thruit00 - Thingiverse
Extruder guide top - PTFE FIlament and Cable Guide for CTC / FlashForge / Duplicator / Replicator by thruit00 - Thingiverse
Door Clip - Door Clip for FlashForge Creator Pro by JMecky - Thingiverse
Extruder Guide for printing Flex - FlashForge Creator/Pro/X/Dreamer Extruder plastic. Works with Flex Filament. Also works with the Monoprice 3d printer and MicroCenter's PowerSpec. Now compatible with CTC with new version. by jfkansas - Thingiverse <----Make sure you have the MK10 Extruder !!
Not sure what slicing software you are using so the terminology may not line up exact.
Travel speed is when the head is not printing.
It is literally called “travel speed” in makerware, and Cura. Its called “X/Y axis movement speed” in simplify3D.
It defaults 150mm/s in those three programs.
I dont use slicer or KISS anymore and dont recall what it was in those.
