Can you connect a Wanhao Duplicator 5s or 5s Mini to software other than Wanhao Maker? If so, how or which programs? WanhaoMaker is fine but it doesn’t have retraction settings which these printers have a tough time with. Any help would be appreciated!
Also, is there any program other than wanhaomaker that can make the .i files that I would need to put on an SD card to use with the printers?
There is a way to use simplify 3d, or any other sofrltware really, but it’s a bit of an annoying process. A quick google search should lead you to a forum with an older version of wanhao maker. The older version has something called gcode transcode. Since the 5 and 5s only accept .i files you will need to create the gcode using your preferred software. After getting the gcode, runnit through the gcode transcode in wanhao maker and you will get the .i file.

I did some looking around and I can’t find the Wanhao Maker version you’re talking about, but it seems as though there’s another program called Ideamaker that has a gcode transcode that can convert .gcode to .i, do you think that would work the same, or would you recommend searching for the wanhao back version?
Actually, I made a mistake. You have to get an earlier version of ideamaker. The current version doesn’t have transcode but yes, if you can find the version of ideamaker with gcode transcode then it will work.
