Hey folks. Ye seem like a decent place to ask.

Looking for a cheap hotend and feeder combo or pair. Is for a very cheap salvage build for fun. PLA/ABS. Also preferably as light of a head end as possible. (If the stepper can be located a few inches away, its weight stops mattering. But if its a combo light=good for this build)

I’m basically playing around with a bunch of salvaged parts for fun ^.^’ So yeah.

Any recommendations?

So you want a Bowden extruder preferentially over a direct and cheap too? Get an E3D V6 clone and look for printable extruder mounts on thingiverse. There’s a lot of personal choice involved, I ended up designing and uploading my own.

You could very easily pick up an E3D clone and cheap stepper motor on eBay. I found one for €8 at one point. I believe they call them J Head or J End.

Look on eBay or Amazon for the MK8 extruder. I’ve used several in my printers. Solid, reliable, easy to maintain.

Hi,

Seems like a nice salvage project

For light head i would suggest a BOWDEN extruder system, the stepper can be placed somewhere on the frame, i got this on my Prusa i3, and works like a charm!: Compact Bowden Extruder, direct drive 1.75mm by schlotzz - Thingiverse

Also steppers can be found in old consumer printers etc…

Cheers!

I am curently using random volcano upgraded E3D V6 chinese clone for around 15 bucks with this throat http://www.ebay.com/itm/331888311290?\_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Take a e3d clone together with an extruder from here: 3d printed Bernis Simple FLEXAR Extruder | bernis simple bowden extruder

How about doing something like this: using a pen as an extruder.

The ultimate in salvaged extruder. Keep the salvaging going.
