I have a PowerSpec 3D PRO (FF Creator PRO clone) and I use S3D for slicing/print management. I have noticed that for single extruder prints with the ‘Left Extruder Only’ setting in S3D, the right extruder still heats up to normal operating temp (200-230 deg), even though it is set to 0 on the ‘Temperature’ tab in S3D. However, if I manually set the right extruder temp to some low non-zero value (like 25 deg), the printer honors the change and doesn’t heat the extruder. Unfortunately, there also seems to be some sort of secondary bug in the firmware that causes the printer to show ‘Heating’ continuously on the top line of the display, instead of the normal percentage completion value. Then I discovered that setting the right extruder to a value slightly higher than what it would get to just from ambient effects, so that there would be some small heater current required, allowed the printer to ‘heat’ the extruder and now the percentage completion shows as normal. I think this is pretty solid evidence that there are at least two separate bugs in at least the firmware on my printer. The first won’t accept 0 as an extruder temp value - just overwrites it with the last non-zero value used. The second bug causes the printer to hang in the ‘heating’ state state forever if it can’t achieve the requested temp (which is what happens if the requested temp is below the printer cabinet ambient). By setting the requested temp slightly above cabinet ambient (I use 75 deg), the printer can match the requested temp with a very small heater current (essentially zero), and avoid the hangup

Could be that your toolhead index is mixed up under the extruder tab? I know FFCP that T0 = Right and T1 = Left, perhaps they are different values? Just a thought really.

Hmm, could be, but how would that explain why a small but non-zero setting works?

Did you build your own slicing profile, or is there a profile already in S3D for Powerspec printers?

Upon my Flashforge Creator Pro which has also has duel nozzles.

Using the menu upon the printer, within the preheat settings. I turn off the right extruder not needed. It stills shows temperature of that nozzle but shouldn’t heat up to same temp as Left one does, the fans are controlled by temp so will spin when temp > 50C

Within S3D in the Temperature Tab, inside a process setting window. I have the temp set to 0 for the extruder not being used

When you power on your printer does it show a splash screen with the firmware details upon it?
As will be helpful when looking for the developers updated firmware which should sort out the bugs but then there are a few within my firmware. where the fan speed sent from S3D is ignored

Me sure you are setting Right Extruder Only or Left Extruder only in S3D, in the upper right of the software! Sounds like you have “both extruders” selected. This one has caught me before.

Perry,

Setting (in my case) Left Extruder Only in S3D is what set that extruder’s temp to 0 in the first place, so yes, I’m sure. In any case, what does it matter how the temp for the unused extruder got set to zero?

You said ‘this one has caught me before’ - can you be more specific?
