I have had my printer for over a year now and I have used it for things that haven’t really required too much precision and consistency but now I want to mod it to be better.

The images attached are my most recent print, and is probably one of the worst prints I’ve done.

Can anybody help to diagnose the issues seen here?

I’m almost done with the Z Brace mod and will fit that soon, I have an all metal hot end and glass plate. I am expecting a D4 gear today and will be fitting flexible couplers soon and am working towards the blower mod too.

What should I do?

I think your getting too much vibration, mostly in the up and down axis. You said you are making a z axis mod which is a clue. Your bed could be getting loose as well. GL

Okay so I have almost finished the z brace mod and am waiting for some flexible couplers. Is there anything else I could add?

Also, interesting what you said about the bed being loose, is this just a case of tightening the fixings?

I would also try rechecking the X/Y belts as they might get loose during usage. I would also check all bolts, to see if they are tight enough. Maybe if the bed gets loose try getting some better metal clips or tighten the fixings (depending on which printer you might have). I have no idea what else you might be able to add other than what you already are adding.

BTW. have you tried putting those things to make the belt just a bit tighter? (that might also help)

Okay, I have a wanhao i3 V2, I haven’t touched the belts because they have belt tensioners and they feel alright. But then again I don’t know what they should feel like.

Actually the penny might have dropped there - my glass bed was previously taped down and I accidentally lifted it up whilst removed a very well adhered part and forgot to re-tape it properly.

I could try that - I’ll have a further dig around for that!

The belts should sort of “play” a tone. Almost like a base guitar. It might be because of that yeah, because when the bed moves there is a chance that the glass moves as well. No problem! Keep us up to date if you have anything still wrong or if you have any questions. :slight_smile: Good luck!
