My two rods that are my Z axis are acting up. they will function normally up until about a quarter of the way up. they then stop, stutter, and become unaligned. I have had this problem for a while and the company I got the kit from won’t help me. any ideas? it is a prusa i3 by Alunar

Is your z-axis made from simple threaded rod and nuts? Have you been using them for a while? It sounds as if your rods are beginning to wear out. This can happen relatively quickly for threaded rods, and they will need to be replaced. You can try extending the life of your rods by cleaning off the steel dust, replacing the nuts, and coating the rods in lithium grease. However, you will still need to replace them fairly quickly. You may want to look into upgrading your system to lead screws, which last much longer (with lithium grease).

Thanks for the reply, these rods are brand new and have not been used other than the few tests I ran. I will try coating them in lithium grease and cleaning them.
