I bought some brassfiil from MicroCenter the other day and began playing with it but could not get it to stick to the bed of my Makerbot. The required bed temp was 85c which I se it to but I wouldn’t stick, I tried temperatures between 70 and 100 and still had no luck. I also used kapton tape and blue painters tape.

Any recommendation?

I’ve had great results on glass with hairspray at 60C. I also tend to squish it down quite a bit on the first layer.

I was just about to recommend hairspray then i noticed someone else has already said it. I have been using hairspray for over a year now with PLA and had really good results. I would however recommend getting the cheapest non perfumed one you can find as they work better. After a while of constantly coating your build plate in hairspray you can get quite a thick layer. I found that acetone cleans this off (I would recomend not building the layer up too thick before cleaning or it becomes really hard work to scrub it off).

On another note regarding filaments like brassfill. Filaments with particles inside (especially metal) will act over time as a grinding paste and enlarge the hole in your hot end nozzle.

It’s not just te bed temperature that is a factor here. Nozzle-to-bed distance, extrusion temperature and printing speed are all things that can influence this. That basically goes for all types of filament. These types of materials are notoriously troublesome when it comes to both adhering and printing itself so play around with the aforementioned settings too!

Lastly: have you also tried something called BuildTak on your platform?

It extruded fine just didn’t stick. I a Fleks bed coming very soon though.
