I am new to 3d printing. Just bought the above printer and have printed 2 items for practical use that turned out pretty well. I just DL’ed from thingiverse and xfered to SD with a Cura version that was on the SD card that came with the printer. I also downloaded the latest version of Cura 2.4.something. Well, when I hit save the only file I can make is 3mf. as far as I’m aware my preinter will be needing gcode files to print. can someone help a noob?

Thanks in advance

You need to import an STL into your slicer and then save as a gcode file so that your printer understands what you’re trying to make it do. A gcode is the blueprint for your printer to work from.

When you click on Save To File, there is a drop-down by the file name that lets you select the file type. Top of the list is .3mf. Drop-down and select .gcode. That should get you the correct file type.

Thank you for the reply. As soon as I get a chance I will check it out!

thank you that worked!
