Does anybody know where to get 200x213mm borosilicate glass build plate for reprap printer in Calgary area?
I just can’t find it online apart from ebay or aliexpress. I found one from aliexpress that actually not flat and has been giving me problem in levelling the plate (found the hard way that the glass is not flat).
Thanks in advance for any input.
Regards,
Jo

If you can’t find a flat glass plate, you should consider an aluminum one, it spreads the heat much more evenly. Also the aluminum can be milled down by a CNC service which gives you a perfectly flat print surface. Beside all that aluminium can’t shatter and can be used with an inductive sensor for automated bed tilt compensation.

@viki do you have a suggestion on where @Wijoyo_Utomo can find a borosilicate glass build plate in Calgary?
You could ask at lux or some other glass supplier in town. I just use regular glass but I only print PLA so the thermal transition isn’t so large. I bought at glass cutter since glass pieces that size are easy to come by for free.

I use Aluminum. I found a machine shop in town that made me 3 100mm x 100mm plates for my machine for $5/ea.

How thick are your aluminum plates and how are your printing results (in regards to first layer adhesion and bed leveling)? Why did you get three plates and we’re they CNC milled to perfect “flatness”? Cheers, Marius Breuer
I haven’t noticed any flatness problems them, they seem very uniformly flat. I got 3 because I was going to be trying different things with them, drilling etc. I use painting-tape and get fine adhesion. I’ve had some adhesion problems with some prints and no problems with others - any problems I have are not the plates. I don’t heat them either, btw. I print PLA.
Also just learned that I got screwed buying from Aliexpress. Beware. In FB 3d printing group, I am told that a borosilicate glass would be whitish on the thickness part while the one I got is greenish which is a normal glass (soda lime).
I find Canada is a strange place, it is so close to US but finding stuff seems to be so difficult. Things that you can get in US easily, here becomes a big problem. Not to mention buying things from US will incur a ridiculous shipping cost plus handling, duty, tax, etc.
Get one Cut at Mikes Hobby and craft Duuhhh All picture glass is BoroSilicate
