Hi everyone, I’m looking at purchasing a Prusa original i3 MK2 as my second printer. I’m curious how long it took people to assemble the machine and if they had any difficulty with it? Does the DIY kit get the same quality print results as the pre-assembled version?

Thanks,

Adam

Took me about 5h to assemble the kit. Quality is superb, should be no difference to the pre-assembled printer.

Awesome, glad to hear there is no difference in quality. Thanks!

Thank you! It’s nice to be aware of some of the things you pointed out in your blog.

I did two 9 hour days assembling but with frequent breaks. STUDY the assembly instructions over and over.

Yeah I’ll probably end up doing it as a weekend project. Especially since this will be my first kit. Thanks!

Really thx for your work, it helps to save some time for beginners

Glad I could help =]

My first printer build and it took me about 8 hours from start to test print. Make sure you have calipers, they really help!!! The online directions are amazing and regularly updated. Overall I loved it and am about to buy another kit.
