I had some weird zigzags on my prints. At first I thought it was just the unlevel build plate tape job but I looked at the print preview and they are there in the preview. What is causing this? I attached a pic. All setting are the default ones.

That is a bug in the program that I noticed too. In every layer, every polygons last vector is lost like that. So if you don’t want that to happen you need to take your model into a program like meshlab or solidworks and upsample it to get more vectors and the gap becomes very smaller. Even when you pause the print and resume, it skips one vector during the print even if your model is fully sliced. It becomes noticeable while it’s printing shells and it loses a long vector when you pause and resume.

Does makerbot not care about this or something?
Not sure, this is just a software bug and can be easily fixed. I’m wondering why nobody in the market even try to improve some parts of 3d printing process like making supports more efficient specially for FDM to use less material, they all use a shadowing technique under surfaces. There are other algorithms that can be used to generate smart supports that use way less material. Most of the times for large prints I design the support myself that cuts the print time in half and at the end I have less wasted material.
