my son has had the anycubic Kissel 3D printer for xmas … we have no previous experience so has taken quite a while to build… now built have been trying to download drivers, firmware etc from the Manual. Since I have done this we have lost the display on LCD on the printer and I’m at a complete loss as to what to do…have a very unhappy son.

can somebody please help

Which firmware did you load? Was there any included with the printer’s kit?

A DIY Delta is far from an easy project to start with 3D Printing… Said from someone whose first printer was indeed a Delta kit.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

the firmware supplied is arduino, I’m going to try again today but I really am going in blind, the model we have is anycubic kossel which I got from amazon and the reviews said it was good for beginners which is why I chose it for my son (who is 14). I followed the instructions and all seemed to be going well until I was following instructions to upload the firmware to printer and then on the LCD display it all went blank.

regards

elaine

Arduino is the name of the board, not of the firmware.

The reason the LCD went blank is, given that it is connected properly to the main board, that the firmware you uploaded is not properly configured for it.

Does the printer come up in host softwares like Pronterface or Repetier-Host?

You may want to try with the Repetier firmware, but you need quite an extensive knowledge of your machine to get it to work - Repetier-Firmware Configuration Tool 0.92.9 .

I suggest you to seek help on Reddit as well (https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/), ping me at https://www.reddit.com/user/nmaggioni1

Thank you…I think we may have bitten off more than we can chew ?

I feel at a complete loss on this and really feel for my son who is itching to use it

Would the firmware be sketch

A sketch is just how the Arduino IDE calls its programs.

I feel you, a DIY kit is often a “make it or break it” solution.

Did you consider returning the item and buying a ready-made printer? I heard good things of the Monoprice brand. Sure, you get what you pay for, but people on Reddit pointed at it as a good entry-level solution.

Hi,

P.S… Will only ask for a big tank you!

Hi, thank you very much for your kind offer… I have decided to return this one and have re ordered a wanhao v2.

if I get stuck on this one will you be able to help?

many thanks

elaine

Hi,

Good decision  (Delta style printer as first machine can be PITA to configure)

I don’t think so you will have issue with the Wanhao, it’s well documented and pretty easy to make it work.

If you will need any assistance let me know!

Regards,

Tamas

 many thanks

Hi just to let you know we have other printer now and all up and running…thank you for your input ?

Contact their tech guy from skype. wangbo5111 < is his skype name. If you contact their tech guy you will have to contact him in the afternoon at 5 pm or 6 pm. If not you can contact me and I can help you through TeamViewer, the reason I am leading you my hand is because I have gone through the same issues and have finally gotten my 3d printer to work after 2 months. I kinda got discouraged. In the end, it all paid off, sorta, you will come across other problems just letting you know. Besides that feel free to msg me at skype username: letsdoit_.
