I finished building my ANYCUBIC KOSSEL printer and have be using it with great results for a few days now.

Today I thought I would print something big with an approx area about 120mmx120mmx100mm, this sort of size should not be a problem as the stated print area is 180mm Dia x 300mm.

So set it up and pressed print and that’s when the problem was made clear.

The 6 arms holding the print head cannot clear their mounting points beyond a print area of about 105mm Dia.

Has anyone had this problem and is there a know fix for it?

I was thinking of making mods to the fame to make it bigger and then extend the arms. I would use my CAD software to work out the increase.

I’m guessing I would also need to alter the firmware?

I myself finished building my Anycubic Linear Plus the other day, and with mine they have included a “modification” to maximise the print size to the advertised size.

Not sure if its any use for the linear standard, but I’ve attached the instruction file anyway.

Maybe it will point you in the right direction.

Good luck.

Anycubic have released a modification on 2016-11-22:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B8VIB533cgdMVUdCY0RXNEVzc0E

They sent me the spacers after the fact and in the meantime I made my own by cutting 5mm sections from a 3mm internal, 4mm external diameter brass pipe.

Mounting the linear slides so that the bottom edge i less than 80mm from the bed is also critical.

With these modifications I can print 180mm diameter. See here Anycubic Kossel Delta 3D Printer Full Assembly and Review - YouTube at 00:40:54 and 01:07:15

Ha Ha…Thanks very much for this. I came to the same conclusion and made a similar mod, and yes 180!! Now the goal is 200mm

Hi!,

Thanks for the information. It does not help with the bigger area but I have increased the printable area by lifting the bed by about 10mm placing it on 3 adjustable points rather than the 6 fixed points they give you. This has allowed me to also level the bed much easier. My printable area has gone up to a dia of 140mm. I have also worked out a plan to increase the printable area to a dia of 200mm without any major modifications and no firmware mods.

I can see why they have added the mod you have shown as without those brass fittings the bolts slacken off over time causing play in the arms.

Thanks again,

Steve

Hi guys,

is there anything you can print out to lift the bed up higher? to help getting wider print area. to save messing around with the runners?

thanks
