We are going to bring some of our 3D printers to a high school presentation in our community and looking for your video recommendations of “what is 3D printing” that we can show the class. Ideally something educational, not promotional.

Thanks for your help!

How about Thomas Sanladerer’s videos on youtube ? These are somewhat advanced and some videos are too complex for beginners, but maybe he could do some explaining specially for pupils. Also he did some 3d printing basics videos (or named similar) in which he describes the key features of a 3d printer, how it works etc.

Another tip for really good videos (however these are pure advertisment) would be colorfabb’s youtube channel. They upload small clips of 3d prints, you could show the pupils how 3d prints are made and you could stop the video to talk about difficulties of 3d prints like overhangs.

Hope this helps,

Marius

Hey Claudia, if you check the /Students tag, you’ll find similar posts with various other recommendations on how to get kids started on 3D printing: Talk Manufacturing | Hubs. Hope this helps!

Print the legend is available on Netflix, Maybe some parts of it would be interesting for your students !

Check on Le FabShop from France too, Samuel N. Bernier is doing some really interesting things.

I’d recommend this film too, but the film focuses more on the development of 3d printer startups instead of 3d printing itself. Also you might get some problems with copyrights. -Marius

I’ve seen this great animation ones, that’s all you need. @Brian you know which one I mean, the one that takes the coffee cup as the example through time

Hi Claudia,

You can show them some of the TED Videos.

Cheers
