Hi I have an anet a8 and have encountered a problem with the heating nozzle. Just above the heating block it seems to be leaking filament, eventually making its way down and dripping on to my print, this wouldn’t bother me too much but I’m having difficulties with layer shifting and I suspect it’s because when the nozzle encounters the blob it causes the z axis to skip notches. I’ve been looking on the web but I can’t seem to find any videos or forums explaining how to stop this from happening. does it need to be tightened? If so how do I tighten it. Currently I have the heating block disassembled from the black extruder motor with the metal throat still attached. the heat block is quite gunked up and it will need a clean, can I blow torch it the same as the nozzle if I take the white plastic tube out of it? i have also tightened the z axis belt to possibly help with the layer shifting problem

That happens to me too, though not so severely as it dripping down onto the bed. I haven’t taken my nozzle apart before, (nor assembled it) but I simply took the thin dual wrench tool provided in the kit and tightened the two nuts above the block; one upwards, and the other downwards, and it helped the leaking quite a bit, thought it still barely leaks. Just make sure the nozzle is in the same orientation that it was in originally.

Hope that helps :slight_smile:

so if I understand, what you need to do is when putting the nozzle, heat block, and the throat together, you first need to tread in the nozzle all the way;

then screw in the throat tube until it stops against the nozzle. Once that is done, unscrew the nozzle about a quarter turn, then screw the the throat tube down again. then get a socket and tighten the nozzle back down on the the throat tube… That should fix your issue. But be careful, if you over tighten you can crack the throat tube!! hope this helps.

I solved this problem using the Thread seal tape (PTFE plumber’s tape) on the Nozzle throat and on the nozzle thread that goes into the heating block.

I think why it was dripping so badly is because it over heated once because the temperature reader fell out of the hole and it burned the end of the white tube inside. I couldn’t get the filament through so i snipped off the burnt bit. But i’m thinking that could be causing a leak. I ordered a new heat block off ali express
