When I was trying to print a phone case and the printer started printing the top of the case the filament was not sticking flat. The printer would form waves and lines on the surface. So what can I do to get a smooth surface and not have this happen again. I was printing with a .2mm nozzle with a .2mm laver height and I used blue pla filament.
First of all control t’ha you set the right nozzle and filament diameter.
If all is right, its a nozzle and bed temperature problem. For example i print the firs layer at 200 nozzle and 50 bed, the next layers at 190 and 40.
Your nozzle seems to be way too close to the bed. Go watch Toms video on bed leveling/ adhesion (Basics: 5 ways of getting your 3D prints to stick! - YouTube) and relevel your bed accordingly.

Since this is your top layer, I am guessing you are printing too fast, and your extruder is having trouble keeping up.
Or your temp is too low, so you are not getting good flow.
Or you are over extruding so much that your nozzle is getting clogged periodically.
If we knew the printer and software you were using we could help more…
I am using Cura 2.4.0 with the Anet A8 3d printer
This is happening to the top surface of my print not the bottom.
Could you post pictures of the whole model and the orientation it printed in?
The anet has the problem alot. Sometimes it’s from failing to feed filament correctly, sometimes you need to add a fan to cool the filament as it’s laid down. Also the bed that ships with the printer is not very good. Try upgrading to a different surface, and adding a fan would be my recommendation.
Is this only on the last layer?
