Title says it all, I’ve got an old 1.0 with the jumpers on the board and I’ve been rather careless and accidentally bridged the two pins and therefore flashed my printer.

Is it possible to reload the original XYZ firmware? I’ve never flashed a BIOS let alone a printer so I guess now I’m going to learn.

Many thanks for any help and sorry about my foolishness.

You did not flash it,you cleared its Flash memory.
Unfortunately you cant go back to XYZ firmware.
You can use much better Repetier firmware.
You have everything here:

Take this opportunity to install Repetier. It makes the printer much better and there are many guides online. I’ve done it and it’s so much better. If you really want XYZ firmware it is possible but you would have to Google for the download and instructions. EDIT: I looked and all the sources for the XYZ firmware have been taken down so you’ll have to go with Repetier. Also, all’s what you did was wipe the firmware. Don’t worry Repetier is easy to install and is the best mod I have done to my printer. If you didn’t know it unlocks temp setting and you can use any filament and no longer need the chipped filament from XYZ.

Many thanks for the responses. I will check them out when I am able and update you all.

Also thanks for the support, I’m quite happy to use Repetier, as long as I can slice and print I’m a happy chappy.

Check this thread https://forum.voltivo.com/showthread.php?tid=7967

I am running Repetier and Titan E3D v6 and am able to print PLA, PETG, TPU, NinjaFlex and of course ABS.

I also have use Cura, Slic3r and Simplify3D for slicing.

I could not be happier.

Printing 3DBenchy in PETG

Thanks all, I’ve reloaded the XYZ firmware 1.1.J using Command prompt and the Bossac commands.

I’ve also tried installing Repetier through Arduino using this Github : GitHub - luc-github/Repetier-Firmware-4-Davinci: Repetier-Firmware-0.92 based for DaVinci printer (Beta - so far so good)
But it’s not working, after uploading the file to my DaVinci it still remains with the black bars, I can wipe the firmware and install the XYZ firmware again but it’d sure be nice to get Repetier installed instead.

Dumb question, did you remove the jumper after you flashed it?

I did, but it’s often the most simple thing that’s the cause of the problem.

When do you see the black bars? Did you do Settings/Load Fail-Safe as shown here:

I see the black bars right after uploading the Repetier firmware via Arduino. I get the readout in the program saying everything is okay but the printer display remains with black bars even after restarting the printer.

“Make sure you have the Arduino Due (native usb) selected in arduino. That should fix the problem. HTH”

from Black bars on my LCD (Page 1) — XYZ Printing DaVinci — SoliForum - 3D Printing Community

Also, Yes after flashing you have to turn off then on the printer - to reset the screen - if you already did load fail safe or M502/M500 with new FW no need

UPDATE: I have Repetier installed on the Davinci 1.0. I did not use the correct 1.5.8 version and I used an UNO instead o my Mega as apparently there are some pin differences between the two.

Repetier runs fine and Reprap is great, I’m just having trouble with extruding, still this problem seems to haunt me, I can feed the filament in but there must be some settings in Reprap that’s changing the feed rate or power being supplied to the extruder motor. I have replaced the extruder motor driver along with the Z axis with non XYZ parts so I feel they might not be supplying enough power for the motor.

hope this helps just did my xyz 1 week ago working like a dream
