Hi,
I would like to know what are the bests settings I shall use on my ULT 2, to print black ABS filament ( NEOfil) without Wrapping, It’s a flat object, not really complicated but it is large and flat so… it doesn’t help.
II tried everything, 3d Spray doesn’t work, up the buildplate tempeture, i need you !
Thanks for your help.
You’ll probably need to run it real slow if it’s large and flat, and either print an airflow guide so that you don’t chill your nozzle or run the fans pretty low. Also, I recommend using acetone and a slurry puck to prepare the surface–print one and follow the instructions on how to use it.

Thanks a lot, i’m gonna try it right now !
Thanks a lot, i’m trying it right now ! It looks better for the moment.
What is the speed of your cooling fan? What i mostly encounter is that the fans are spinning too fast… I am spinning at 70% fan speed. And always use a brim of raft een printing ABS or HIPS

I am having the same issues printing ABS on my UM2.
I already have the following mod installed: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/um2-olsson-block-fan-mount
But I haven’t tried turning down the fan speeds (I will try this as well…)
Any other recommendations?
Also relevel your bed just to be sure, set the bed a little higher ±5degrees and clean the glass, use a brim or raft. 40mm print speed. And 65 to 75% fan speed.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I will give this a try this evening. I need to re-print that fan mod in ABS as mine was done in PLA and currently is heat-warped which sometimes causes issues with prints now because its starting to sag. But I had been unable to print it in ABS because it kept warping and coming off the glass.
Yeah, bed leveling is key here. I recommend you print an object with a big raft and try leveling the bed by hand as it prints the raft. You should see the line of ABS put down by the print head be smushed a little bit as it extrudes, and the lines should just be touching. This will ensure that you have enough pressure put down on the bed itself for good adhesion. The bed level procedure that the UM2 comes with will only get you approximately level.

Put a slurry of ABS (dissolved in Aceton) on the buildplate. this helps. Keep the fan off. With this I have had never problems.

Fan off, extruder temperature at 250 degrees C, build plate temperature 110 degrees C. And you have to put something on your glass plate. For me kapton tape works well, this is however a bit time consuming to apply correctly. I also have very good results with hairspray (ultra strong) which I apply after preheating the build plate.
Turning off the fans from a um2 is highly stressing your nozzle

Try dimafix spray. That’s what I use or proto pasta flexiglass. Both available from our webstore. Www.metacad.Co. uk
Hey guys,
all I read was: tweak the fan, tweak the buildplate temp., tweak the nozzle temp. and use some adhesive spray.
And I read always the same, when I have a problem with warping. I like the skills of all users, specially to tweak the printers to the last, to get the best results. But i am a design engineer and there is one thing I want to add:
The print starts at the design process. Thermal expansion is the base of all problems. And when you design a model, draw it with less material clusters as possible. The less material you use, the less mass is expensioning and the less force is making the warping effect. (The Force is proportional to the area of mass)
Make reinforcing rips, save material as much as possible and the warp effect gets less.
To support the construction make a skirt. But if you trying to fix it down with adhesive spray etc., its the same as you build a house without a good basement.

I always use a 25mm brim with dimafix for ABS and hardly ever get warping. try petg or Form futura hdglass low warpage and prints a dream , but tougher than abs.also Form Futura abs pro is very low warpage , my UM2’s print non stop functional engineered parts I use petg or ABS pro for industry.just use PLA for arty farty ornamental samples .
At the end of the day less heat = less warping so keep your nozzle a low as you can manage without blocking the nozzle

Thank’s a lot, i gonna try For futura, I’ve orderered and M-ABS, dunno yet if it works fine but it is and no-wrapping ABS filement,
Will see if it work, i’ll say you.
Thanks but they already are off
That’s what I did with “3DLAC Printing special lac.” i’ll try ULTRASTRONG Hairspray after preheating the build plate soon I think thanks !

I heard some people had good results with that stuff. Strange. However, build plate temperature is by far the most important, make sure that’s high enough.
