There is quit allot 3D printing related stuff happening in Haarlem. I was wondering, what is your story? What do you do in Haarlem with 3D printing? Do you have a hub, are you a designer, is it only for the fun or serious business? I like to bring the community more together here on Hubs and soon at 3D Hubs meetings in Haarlem.

We at Prins Heerlijk, teach children from 7 years-12 years old, how to design and 3 d print. We take care of children after school and in the holidays in the age of 4-12 years. And we design new Dutch souvenirs.

Hello, I’m currently working at 3D4Makers, a filament producer, located at the 3DMakerzone in Haarlem and this is our story.

Eighteen months ago, father and son Wille started building their own filament extruder. They decided to do this because of the growing interest in 3D printing technology, the knowledge of plastic within the company and the company network. 3D4Makers is the result from a company that primarily dealt with selling plastic raw materials. Now the 3D4Makers team consists of five members, each with their own specialties.

While building the filament extruder and testing it we found out that moisture in the filament can cause problems while printing. Moisture in the filament could also lower the quality of the printing product. 3D4Makers took this problem into account while building the filament extruder.

Normally a filament extruder uses a several meters long waterbed to cool the filament. During this process the filament absorbs water. 3D4Makers chose not to use this cooling technique which means that the filament does not come into contact with water during the production process. On top of that the filament is directly packaged in a vacuum packaging after the production process.

This production process makes the 3D4Makers filament particularly suitable for FDM and FFF 3D printers. The material has an excellent adhesion between the layers. This results in great improvement of the impact resistance, strength, durability, the printing process and “warping”.

The 3D4Makers filament comes with a product information folder that contains technical information, printer settings, storage information and safety information. Basically everything you need to know**.**

There is a very interesting MeetUp group you can join in Haarlem and Bloemendaal: 3D Makers Zone Meetup (Amsterdam, Netherlands) | Meetup

In the 3D Makers Zone, a lot of professional and industrial 3D Printing is going on. It’s in Haarlem East

My question now is what people are doing themselves with this technology in and around Haarlem. I think most people know this group.

Sounds like a great project. Do you already use recycled plastics to?

Children are fast learners. It is really fun to work with them. Do you also teach how to use the machine?

So inspiring! Stories like this made us want to show the world who our Hubs are with the #WeAre20K campaign, so hopefully you’ll want to be a part of it. Cheers Talk Manufacturing | Hubs

Enabling kids to share ideas and express their creativity through 3D design and printing is a wonderful thing. We’d love to show this side of our Hubs, so please consider being part of our #WeAre20K campaign and share a photo of your space: Talk Manufacturing | Hubs. Cheers
