— 3D Printing Day Event —

The third of December 2015 has been designated 3D Printing Day!

Events have been organized around the world, including at the Brighouse Branch of the Richmond Public Library.

We’re planning an evening of fun including:
- 3D scanning of people and objects
- a showcase of patrons designs and prints (hopefully with some in attendance to help and guide others)
- local STEAM educators highlighting how they’re using 3D printing in education
- 6:30-8:00pm, Thursday the 3rd of December

We’re also looking for volunteers:
- Help with using skannect (free version) and X-Box 360 Kinect scanners. I’ll have two on hand, but I’m a complete beginner at using this setup.
- We’re looking to make it hands-on; if you’ve got some experience with mesh fixing, model mashing, or part design (e.g. sketchup, 123D design, …) and able to come and share your skills, then please let me know! I’ll work with the tech librarians to make a computer available for you to use.

Thanks- are you going to have a map up soon?

Do you have a central place for photos, conversations, etc for the day- e.g. a specific talk thread? Are you planning a google hangout? (24 hours of 3D printing goodness :wink: )

Yeah, that’s the spirit! :slight_smile: So:

  • The map should arrive any day now, @koenbodewes will make sure of of that! :wink:
  • We’ll definitely start a thread for people to share their shenanigans, on December 3rd.
  • There’re no plans for a Hangout yet, but that’s not gonna stop us! :slight_smile: I’ll share this with the guys and update you on this one
