I have had nothing but continuous questions at my day job, about all things 3D printing. What better way to help my co-workers understand and witness the printing experience than an actual devoted day!!
My idea is simply to showcase the basics, but I would love to hear anyone’s ideas for how best to represent 3Dhubs and 3D printing!
Cheers!

This is a very good idea. I think I will do the same in my office. I hope you don’t mind if I borrow your idea.
The company bought a 3D printer and it sits in a cubicle near me. I will let everyone know that I will have a demo and answer questions on that day. I have a number of printed pieces and will make more for people to look at.
Since the company bought the supplies - I think I’ll build a bunch of Marvins to hand out. That or keychains with the company logo.
I think I will paper the cubicle with mini-posters about 3D printing and the different types of printers. And a poster or two about 3D hubs.
Let’s have a great 3D Printing Day - even though we work on that day.

Totally. My team here is highly supportive of this. Just have to setup a conference room.
Nice idea!! Can either of those be done within 8 hours @3dprintingguy?

Be sure to let us know how yours goes as well. I hope you have a good one and a good turnout for it.
I should have an e-NABLE hand ready to show by then. I will take pictures.

Definitely! I hope you do too!
Thats a great one in person. I think I will either do lots of small prints to hand out, or the jack.

Sounds good! I want to do that jack, or small prints to hand out.
Cheers!
demand usually outstrips supply if you are printing the small parts, make sure you preprint heaps before hand
Very true. Platform jack it is!
One small update, guys! The 3D Printing Day map is vroom-vroom ready

UPDATE:
Got approval, so I will be hosting this event at Billabong HQ! I have one of our designers making something extra special for this day. There is already lots of internal buzz, so hopefully I can make this something memorable for everyone here!
Thank you everyone for your helpful suggestions! I will update after the event with pictures!
@Filemon, super stoked you like the idea! @gabriela3d, I printed out that map to show off the size of this event, good work!

Unfortunately, my 3D Printing Day was almost a bust. A building with 400 geeks (all IT for the company) and only 5 people came by to see the printer and pick up a key fob. Oh well - the people who came by thought the hand was fantastic.

Ah man!! Im sorry to hear that!! Still though, you participated in the beginning of the next huge global revolution, so that must feel pretty great in terms of bragging rights. Mine turned out pretty well! I will do another post with pictures, but overall I had about ~35 people, and most didn’t truly understand the concept! Today was a good day.

Sorry to hear that, @RCole, I’m sure next year it will be better though. Thanks for being part of this!
Haha! Well beginnings are always rough, but most of the time they lead to great things
Nice touch with 3D printing that thong with the company logo, loved it!
