I thought I would get a thread started for Green Bay and welcome introductions from everyone. Maybe we could have a meet-up, a team printing project, or Green Bay print challenge.
I’ll start with a simple introduction I guess…
I’m Matt and I’m I.T. Manager by day,Gunsmith by night, and 3D designer/Printer in between. I have been printing for about a year with an Airwolf Hd2x dual extruder, but working with computers and 3D modeling for over 25 years (Im 37). I can help assit in mold making, and casting if there is anyone who needs/wants to take a 3D print and rapidly reproduce it through various mold making/casting techniques.
My favorite Slicer: Well… Sli3r 1.26 has really made some leaps and bounds and my new favorite.
Favorite Material: Pretty much anything that is a challenge to print… Carbon Fiber, Nylon, polycarbonate, PETG.
Favorite filament brand: 3dXtech
It would be nice to see what everyone else is up to, and using?

Hey Matt, great idea!
My name is John and I am a Systems Admin by day and a 3D Designer/printer by night. I have been researching 3D printers for about a year and have been using and building 3D printers for the past 3 months. My partener in crime and roommate is Mike, he is a Design Engineer by day and a 3D Designer/printer by night as well. He has been playing with printers for about 6 months.
We currently have a Robo3D and Makerfarm i3V. We are currently building two more, a little 6 incher and a massive 24 incher. We are currently using Simplify3D and love it! We currently print in PETG, ABS, and PLA as those are the three materials most commonly requested. Once we get our new printers going we would like to dive into more challenging filament.
We are looking to get more involved in a local community or to start one if one doesnt already exist.
Evening everyone. My name is Steven and I am a Designer/3D Modeler by day and a Maker/Mentor on my free-time. I have been printing for 8 months now but have been creating 3D models for my company for the last 8 years. I am a graduate of the Prototype & Design program at NWTC (it is also where I am an Alumni Association Mentor). I am proficient with Rhino, AutoCAD Mechanical, and Inventor along with some exposure to 3DS Max (I am my company’s CAD Admin so I spend a fair amount of time training others in Inventor, which I also use at home). As for my printer its a Formlabs+1 (I wanted to do more RTV casting of prints so surface finish became more important than build volume). I am looking into a second printer (an Atom 2.0 Delta - which has a much larger build envelope). For the most part I’ve only printed models that I’ve created myself (the slicing software, Pre-form, is specific to the printer so I have limited ability to alter its settings). Most of of my prints have been done with the 50 micron to 25 micron setting (I am currently testing the limitations of the printer with small details by printing a 1/100 scale model of a WWI armored car). I got into 3D Printing as a way to bring my own designs to life, a way to make them tactile and appreciable (a close co-worker of mine has a Makerbot Replicator and he has done an excellent job promoting his designs to our corporate execs through his 3D prints). Another co-worker brought 3DHubs to my attention and I thought it might be a good idea to become part of the community in Northeast Wisconsin. I don’t know if this is going to become a business for me (I’ve recently taken up a couple projects doing product development for new consumer items but this has been limited to supplying the client with a package of build prints that they can then take to a manufacturer to have built). It would be nice to someday offer a complete pipe-line starting with inception of the product to final delivery of the physical prototype though. But that’s why I’m here, to learn alongside the rest of the community. I look forward to sharing ideas with the group.
