Hi there,

I recently bought a DIY 3D printer (rerap prusa i3) and have finished assembling it. I managed to get it connected to my PC and control the axis via Repetier Host. However, I met some issues.

1) When I preheat the temp via the LCD screen, the temperature keeps rising beyond the max temp which I set in Repetier Host. The temperature cannot be controlled, it keeps giving the Max temp error.

2) When I press Print, the nozzle moved and stopped. LCD states heating…, but temperature remains the same. In the Repetier host, the loading bar at bottom right says printing but does not move.

I need help with these issues as I cant solve it myself…

I appreciate any help and advices.

Hi Eugene,

Try to use the lcd screen + SD card without connecting the PC, it’s simpler. If you want to connect a PC, try using Pronterface.

If nothing else helps you can load a new firmware version onto your controller board. The supplier of the DIY printer should provide instructions and given firmware for that.

Cheers,

Sounds like your Extruder’s hotend’s heater is not properly connected, check the connections to the heater resistor and on the driver PCB (Sanguino?) you may have accidentally wired it wrongly.

Max Temp Error indicates that there is a short circuit on the Thermistor legs.

Maybe you pulled the wire accedently and it moved within the aluminium-block.

Once the Max-Temp-Error occurs, the printer freezes due to the error.

It will only recover when the problem is solved and you restart the printer (power off reset)

The same happens if the thermistor is not connected (think that is a 0 degree-error)

Try to solve the thermistor problem before you continue printing.

Also I would recommend to use Cura as slicer, put the GCode on SD and let the Printer Print by himself.

Since you have an LCD, I’m pretty sure you also have an SD-Card Slot and you use Marlin?
