We recently got a Form 1+ in our NYC office and we have been putting it through the ropes. It’s really fun. After the first true snow and cold week here in NYC, we decided it would be a cool idea to print a pair of sunglasses. Here are the results;

I used some resin and a 405 nm terrarium light to cure and fit the two separate frames together. I used a belt sander to grind the old ray ban lenses to fit the frame. It worked surprisingly well, but isn’t quite a perfect fit. I also used a set of filers to sand the edges to get the hinges to fit. A needle helped me clear out the screw holes.

The thingiverse file I used can be found here;

On the next iteration I will model the frame around the lenses instead of the other way around. And maybe add a cool logo. Has anybody else printed glasses before? Let me know if you have any questions or have any input!

I’m not sure what I like more, the shirt, the NEON letters or the Glasses, so much awesomeness in one picture. :wink:

Styling work Alex!

Haha, looking good, Alex! In case you’re asking, I’m definitely in for a pair :wink:

I love it!!!:slight_smile:

love the pic!

@SODA is the pro in the sunglasses’ world, sure he can give us some precious tips and tricks

Is the ripples on top where the support material was?

Cool shades Alex! Get the trend going!

I like the idea. Will try to pick up some replacement lenses for sunglasses and start to model a custom frame around them too if i get some time to kill. To get to next level of awesomeness it would be really cool to use a scanned 3d model of your head and make some shades that perfectly fit your size and proportions. My even evolve into a business… custom shades, made to fit YOU! :slight_smile:

@Filemon Yah, I didnt sand the back of the frames too much because they aren’t as visible

@Andreas_CH Nice! That would be a great idea.
