I just won a zcorp z400 through an auction. I am a total rookie when it comes to the world of 3d printing. The only previous owner was a university. The error light does light up when i plug it in. Im not sure if i should spend the time and money diagnosing or attempt to sell in non-working condition…anyone know the value of a nonworking z400 that is cosmetically sound? (Could it be because ive hooked up a monitor but not keyboard yet?) I bought it bc these fascinate me…

If it didn’t cost the earth I’d leave it in the corner for now and get yourself an i3 clone or a CR-10. Get yourself going with FDM printing to learn the basics. Powder based printing is full topic in itself and without a background knowledge I think you will spend longer getting it working than you would otherwise. The other issue you will have is spare parts. I am not sure you could get any spare parts from the OEM or otherwise for it.

I’d be surprised if you could get more than £500 for a non working machine of that vintage (converted to your local currency). There is a 406 available on ebay in the UK right now for £1000 but it works and has supplies with it.
