He guys,
@HubBrussel @ImShogun @Valery
Willen jullie de eerste schoten lossen?
Cheers,
Barry

Hey Barry,
That would certainly be a great idea for us in Brussels. I’m not sure how I can help with the limited time I have between my job and my family but I’d love to help.
I will give it a thought and let you know.
cheers
Well, Valery spoke for me too!
I do work full time but I could make myself available on some weekends of the dates fit. Would be much harder during working days, although not impossible.
About locations, it depend on how big the event can be. I hosted a few food workshops in my Loft but certainly can’t host a hundred visitors
how many are u thinking about?

Hi @ImShogun & @Valery
Really cool that you react so positive!
I was thinking about a (monthly) meetup. Normally about 20 people would be joining to share tips and tricks about 3D printing, but you can set a maximum to the attendees. We also noticed that people really like short presentations about new printers, flimanents, makertales, things like that.
Normally it wouldn’t take a lot of time to organize something like a meetup. Only thing that is needed is a introduction on the website about the meetup, a location that’s free to use, someone who buy drinks (than let the visitors pay a small amount to cover the costs) and someone who take some nice pictures of the meetup. During, you can ask it someone has ideas for a theme for the next meetup.
All the PR that’s something that I take care of.
In general I think that it’s just cool to meet the rest of the Brussels community and share experiences and get better at 3D printing.
Let me know how you guys think about it. Any idea or suggestion is welcome.
Cheers,
Barry
P.s. There’s a makerfair coming to Brussels, maybe nice to check it out. The organizer is Deepak, our Mayor of Antwerp.

He @Antoine2055 & @samizdat
I keep the language in English, but feel free to write in Dutch to me.
About the when, where and how many people depends on what we can find for the location. There’s no budget, so we have to think out-of-the-box so to say.
@ImShogun organized a workshop in his loft, so there can’t he a hundred people in there. But for a meetup it would me great I guess and maybe something can grow out of this.
But feel free to shoot out some ideas.
Barry
P.s.
I really like the fast positive responses. Thanks a lot!
@barry,
Thanks for the warm-up
Typically, these workshops, they would last for a few hours, more or less? During working days or weekends?

Hi @ImShogun
No problem, happy to help you out!
Yes the workshops and meetups are around 2 of 3 hours. Most of the time they take place during working days, but if you don’t have time than weekends are also suitable. It’s what you prefer.
If you want to plan something, just let me know and i’ll help you to set it up on 3D Hubs and promote the workshop/event.
Thanks
Barry
Hi again,
I suppose it could be f.e. during the week from 6pm to 9pm? Is that typical hours? What about the hardware? I guess that guests would bring their laptops? Could you please share with us some details about what people usually do/bring/use? You talked about themes, do you have an example? So many questions… And that’s probably not the end of it. Because Id’ better now exactly what to expect if I want my wife to be thrilled instead of frightenned

Hi @ImShogun
Haha it’s totally normal to be a bit frighten the first time, but no worries!
You have all the freedom to make of it what you want. You also decide how many people can be there.
- Most of the meetups are get togethers to talk about 3D printing.
- 7pm till 9pm would be great! Most of the meetups are at this time during the week.
- You can have a theme like software, a 3Dprint project, materials& filaments, modeling etc. But this is not necessary per se.
- Hardware: Would be cool to have a 3D printer there, maybe some other people bring them to if you ask them.
- Laptop is really useful for checking software or modeling

If you prefer a skype call to shoot all your questions on me, I would be happy to do that.
Let me know how you feel about all this!
