Hello,

Hey so I was thinking about this 3D filament sharing idea that Gary had at the last Calgary meetup. I think that it could work so I made a quick and simple site on weebly at http://3dfilamentsharing.weebly.com that is a work in progress but I would love some feedback on it and feel free to sign up.

Right now its set up so that people can e-mail me and send some information on the filament they have and I can post it on the website as a picture in a slideshow that people can browse and then I get the people together.

So the idea is that you can trade filaments ,right? Or is it only a selling platform? Sounds cool initiative nonetheless tho.

Yeah for all kinds of trade but I imagine it will mostly be for money

I think this filament sharing idea can be interesting if developed inside FABLABS.

I think that filament sharing is a great idea in theory, but it’s a little tricky to make it happen and leave everyone happy. I’m really interested to find ways to make 3d printing more sustainable and this is an idea I have tossed around. I would love to chat more with you about the idea, or with anyone else in Calgary about ways we can make the industry more sustainable.

I would love to chat with you about this idea. I think that I liked the idea of sharing but its more like you can buy filament at smaller quantities from a fellow maker at a slightly increased price then getting it bulk so that if someone sells all their filament they will make a little money.
