What is the best print software for designing stuff that looks somewhat like this:

The “racks” I am designing will probably be more complex than the one included but that is a good idea of what I am referring to.

Thanks

SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, OnShape, SolidEdge, CATIA, ProE are very versatile Professional 3D CAD Programs but they are expensive. Licenses are usually upwards of $4000/-. OnShape is cloud based CAD and you can subscribe for approx. $100/- month.

If the model is no too complex to create then you can use SketchUp which is free. You can also give FreeCAD a try.

Sketchup has a paid version. How good is that one.

Thanks

SketchUp’s free version is good enough for the most part. You can start with that one to see if it meets your needs. However, free version is meant for personal work. If you need to do commercial work, you will need to purchase the Pro license.

Hi

I use the Sketchup Pro paid for version.

Sketchup is a somewhat peculiar drawing program but it works for me.

I use a few of the many available plug ins for Sketchup that absolutely help making things solid for 3D printing.

My designs are usually quite simple and your grid would be quite simple to draw.

I’ve tried a few of the higher end software products from Autodesk, and I don’t like the Autodesk marketing when

testing their products.

Sketchup was the most intuitive for me to use.

I downloaded it, tried it and was able to draw simple things within a couple of hours.

I hope my comments help you in some manner.

Honestly, I was never willing to pay ridiculous amounts for a program and I don’t like the overly complex learning curves of free open source crazy programs. So try 123D Design. Its free, by Autodesk and does pretty much all the basics (check my Thingiverse, all that was done in 123D). Also check Onshape. Its cloud based.
