Hi guys, I need help creating a concept for a hardware accessory for my project. This is my first 3D design and I think I not doing a great job. Basically I want an accessory to hold the camera on top of a laser device and I want it to be detachable or can be easily. the screw hole is standard GoPro camera screw(I’m not good with types of screw that’s the closest I could get.). Attached is my initial design and the image of what I imagine it should be. I would like to get ideas of a cooler design. any help will do. Thanks

How about a shape that clips to the laser and supports the camera from underneath and reaches up to the screw? That way you would define the offset of the camera to the laser too.
Looks like the laser device has a space for a clip. You could use a 2d scanner, scan the laser device to define the contour and design around that. It would be screwd in and detachable! B-)

I can’t even make a 3D design of a clip that would look good. would you be kind enough to help us out on this? It would also be really nice if we could adjust the distance between the laser and the camera while it is mounted.
that space is for the charger. this device is water proof so that there protects the charging socket from getting wet.

First thing I need to have is an accurate representation of the contour of the camera and the laser. Can you scan the top and bottom of the laser in gray scale? Or measure the laser, and the diameter of the camera at different points along its length? I need a drawing or scan of the two devices to reference.
I can send you a drawing tomorrow will that be ok? I don’t have the device right now. but basically the scanner is 6x15x3 and the diameter of the camera is 6.4 and its length is 6.4. all these measurements are in cm. the attached .dwg file is the closest representation of the devices.
Sorry, I’m no expert, but your design looks okay to me. As far as improvements go, maybe make the part holding the laser more round as to cup the laser in place. As long as it doesn’t block the lens or any major parts it may work out.
