Hi there, After two months of owning my ctc bizer and many upgrades I am now able to produce fairly good prints. But I am having one problem which is now that I’m getting the first layer spot on and stuck to the blue painters tape when I am printing larger prints the front and back is lifting the blue tape from the heat bed and creating a curved print. I have lowered the temperature down to 20 in stages of 5°at a time I have also gone up to 70° In stages of 5° and it does not seem to help or make any noticeable difference Any advice would be great as I’m starting to pull my hair out with this issue Cheers

Are you using a raft? I’ve found that wide, flat prints usually need a raft to prevent lifting, though a good shot of hairspray or a bit of glue stick might solve the problem.

No I find the rafts leave the base layer really messy but I will give it a go thanks for the input

I agree about rafts, and the mess they leave on the base of the print. I switched to a glass bed a few months back and am glad I did. I use a glue stick and it usually can keep a piece from warping upwards, but not always - then it’s back to the raft.

I have been thinking about a glass bed is there any particular glass I need to use

Nope. I paid all of $2.47 at Lowes for a 10x12 inch pane they cut into four pieces for me. I have a Monoprice Mini, the bed’s kind of small. I had to lop off the corners with a small glass cutter to access the leveling screws.

I think the glass thickness is 3/32", a standard size for window glass.

You’ll (probably) have to adjust the Z-access limit switch to accommodate the extra height of the bed.

That’s great thanks for the assist I should be ok with z axis as adjusters are near fully undone so there is about half inch to play with

Some other things to make sure…

*1* - Make sure you bed is level.

Once you’re confident that your bed is level, you can try some/all of the following:

-Slow down your first layer by 50-75%

-Print the PLA at 230 degrees for the first layer.

-Setting for the first layer is the layer height. Make your first layer as thin as possible, best case would be .1mm

-Make sure your part fan is off for the first layer

-Make sure to use fresh tape, or try a different brand of tape

These should take care of your first layer adhesion issues. If you have pics of the issue or if it’s still continuing, hit me up to see if we can get it resolved.

First layer adhesion is second to none it is litraly fused to the tape so much so that it is ripping blue tape of heat bed I have already tried numerous brands of blue tape. As advised by someone else I’m gonna try using glass see if that improves the issue I will take some of your other ideas although with my printer if I go above 220 I get issues with hot end I have found 212°to be perfect. Thank you for your input it is much appreciated

Hate to introduce another variable, but it sounds like maybe your bed is too close

to the nozzle?

Ah, got it. Your PLA is warping. I misread your concerns. Sorry about that. Not sure if you have part fans, but you could try increasing the speed of your part fan, may 60-80%. The part may not be cooling fast enough causing the warping. I’d be curious if turning the heated bed off completely makes any difference. How big is the part you are printing?
